Ladies, ladies, ladies.... I'm surprised no one got this! Alicia, I thought for sure you'd be all over this one. No matter. John Cusack. I could just end this entry with those two words. He started his movie career decades ago and is still going strong. His co-star in this movie, Ione Skye? Whatever happened to her? I don't think I saw her in any other movie. Googling her produces only pictures of her from this movie. At least she can say she was in one of John Cusack's best movies. I love how John and his sister Joan almost always are in the same movie. I wonder if it's part of his/her contract agreement. I don't know that I'd be so willing to do that with one of my siblings. What if John Cusack and Ione Skye got together for a reunion movie? Is that something you'd go see?

Blogger seems to be having issues today. After 3 tries, I still can't post a picture. Regardless, Friday's movie was "The Wizard of Oz." Did you know that movie came out in 1939? I remember my dad telling me that when he watched that as a kid, the winged monkeys (why not monkies?) used to scare him and he'd hide behind the couch. Those are scary looking animals, but appropriate minions for The Wicked Witch of the West. And speaking of "Wicked".... have you had a chance to see that? If not, and you're even the slightest bit interested in "The Wizard of Oz," please go see it. It's amazing. There's a lot of urban legends in connection with "The Wizard of Oz" too, mostly having to do with the munchkins. One I've heard is that during a scene in the woods, you can see a munchkin hanging himself in the background. I've looked for it, and like with Wall-E and Toy Story, I can't see what people are talking about. Here's a question for you: If he doesn't have a brain, how come the Scarecrow outsmarts the apple trees and finds a solution to save the whole gang from the army of the Wicked Witch?

Toy Story

I heard that in the scene where they're flying down the street behind the car, one can see Wall-E in the background. I never could see the little bug-eyed machine. Anyone else ever hear of that? Pixar movies are great. I went out with a guy once that worked for Pixar. That's probably the closest I'll ever get to being in the movies.

If you build it, he will come. In my opinion, Kevin Costner had only a couple good movies and this was the other one. Waterworld anyone?

Little Monsters

Fred Savage! This was made in his prime. You know, "Princess Bride" "The Wonder Years." He's the kind of child actor that I wonder about. What's he up to these days? What's even cuter about this movie? Fred Savage stars in this movie with his little bro Ben, of "Boy Meets World" fame. This isn't the most reverent child/monster movie, downright grotesque in a couple places, but overall pretty innocent. And again, Fred Savage! He's so cute!

Yesterday's movie:

Grease

Grease is the word. The 25th anniversary of this movie came out on my 18th birthday and I got together with a big group of friends from school and we went to see this. We were first in line. While waiting in line there were hula hoop contests and other fun shenanigans. I don't remember seeing one guy waiting in that line either. To this day, whenever I hear the song "Greased Lightning" I see in my mind the theater full of women singing along and doing the hand movements and everything. My mom still doesn't like this movie. Some people you can never change.

Friday's movie:

It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World

One of our family favorites. I couldn't remember ever watching the entire movie growing up, so during a hot and pregnant summer last year, I finally sat down and watched it. There's not much else you can do with swollen ankles. It was funnier than I thought too. It's kind of a long movie so prepare. But with classics like Mickey Rooney, Ethel Merman (isn't that a male mermaid?) and Buddy Hackett, how can you go wrong?
