Yesterday's movie:

Beetlejuice

Weird? Yes. Gross? Yes. Scary? Could be. But what a keeper. Not to mention that you're talking to a dead guy here!

Today's quote:
"You lewd, crude, rude bag of pre-chewed food dude."

Yesterday's movie:

Wayne's World

Excellent. This was the first movie I ever bought. I was in middle school, living in Germany and bought it at the PX. I still own it.... on VHS. Really at a loss as to what to say about this movie. Any other favorite quotes?

Today's quote:
"I'm not scared of sheets. Are you gross under there? Are you Night of the Living Dead under there? Like all bloody veins and pus? "

Yesterday's movie:

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

This is by far my favorite of the Indiana Jones movies. I think it's all the disgusting bug scenes and hearts being pulled out of chests that draws me in time after time. Or maybe it's the "snake surprise" that I just can't get enough of. Does anyone remember the Indiana Jones Atari game? I wonder if anyone still owns an Atari.

Today's quote:
"Am I supposed to be a man, am I supposed to say, 'It's OK, I don't mind'? Well, I mind! I mind big time! And you know what the worst part is? I NEVER LEARNED TO READ!!!"

Yesterday's movie:

17 Again

Like Alicia said in her comment, I too enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would. I thought it was going to be just another "teens having sex" movie. So glad it wasn't. My husband and I were quite impressed with it and while this is the only movie I've ever seen Zac Efron in, I thoroughly enjoyed him as well.

Today's quote:
"Those aren't big birds, sweetheart. They're giant vampire bats!"

Friday's movie:

City Slickers

Monday's creative juices aren't flowing quite yet, so I'm just going to go straight to today's quote.

Today's quote:
"What are you wearing? You're supposed to look like a dad, you look like Clay Aiken!"

Yesterday's movie:

Ghostbusters

Classic 80's movie! Too many quotes to choose from. I mentioned Rick Moranis in a previous entry and here he is again in this movie playing dorky short dude. I know he can't help his height, or lack thereof. I watched Ghostbusters 2 not too long ago. It wasn't as bad as I remembered it being and there's some decent quotes in there too. Maybe we'll get there on here someday.

Today's quote:
"It's hot, brown, and there's plenty of it!"

Yesterday's movie:

Look Who's Talking

I've always liked this movie, but it was funnier to me watching it while pregnant. I don't think I've ever seen the sequel. Anyone seen that and can comment on it ? Didn't Roseann Barr do the voice for Mikey's sister?

Today's quote:
"When someone asks if you're a god, you say YES!"

Yesterday's movie:

Encino Man

It's nice to see that Brendan Fraser and Sean Astin were able to continue making movies, Fraser taking bigger roles and Astin, well, not so big roles. What about Pauly Shore though? Another "actor" lost to the typecast pit. He's gotta be pushing 50 by now, eh? Good job Alicia getting this movie.

Today's quote:
"Help! Help! Somebody burp me before I blow up!"

Yesterday's movie:

Walt Disney's Robin Hood

They don't make them like this anymore, do they? I saw that there's another Robin Hood movie coming out, this time with Russell Crowe. We'll see how adept he is at wielding a bow and arrow. He's not my favorite person, but he's a good actor.

Today's quote:
"If you're edged 'cause I'm weazin all your grindage, just chill. 'Cause if I had the whole brady bunch thing happenin' at my pad, I'd go grind over there, so dont tax my gig so hard-core cruster."

Friday's movie:

The Christmas Story

.... and there's the image behind the quote. I don't think I could ever, EVER, get enough of this movie. "Fra-jeeeeee-lee. Hmm, must be Italian." "Sthuck.....sthuck....." And the all-time class, "You'll shoot your eye out!"

Today's quote:
"Out of my way, assassin!" (ok, I'll give you two for this movie)
"Poppycock! Female bandits."

Yesterday's movie

The Money Pit

One of my all-time favorite scenes from this movie is when he's filling the bathtub with hot water and it crashes through the floor. His laughing kills me. Another part is when he's stuck in the carpet in the hole in the floor and is making little paper airplanes out the money in his hands. Tom Hanks would have to be one of my favorite actors. He's so versatile. Has he ever played a bad guy though? If he has, I have yet to see him in that role.

Today's quote:
"He looks like a pink nightmare!"

Yesterday's movie:

Honey, I Shrunk The Kids

While this movie in and of itself was good, albeit a little dorky, they really went overboard with sequels and continuations, e.g., "Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves", "Honey, I Blew Up The Kid." They should have left it alone. Does Rick Moranis ever NOT play a dorky guy? I admit, I've only seen him in this movie and in "Ghostbusters." Typecast. Poor guy.

Today's quote:
Person #1 "You're so much less attractive when I'm sober."
Person #2 "Thank goodness it's not that often."

Yesterday's movie:

The Sound of Music

Who doesn't love this one? I lived in Germany for a few years when I was growing up and we had the opportunity to visit the real Von Trapp house in Austria. Huge! It's like a little college now. The back yard garden and lake was exactly like it was in the movie. I seem to remember hearing that they actually filmed it there. This is definitely a movie classic I'll be passing down to my kids.

Today's quote:
"It's very delicate, the lawn. You don't want to over-water, really."

Yesterday's movie

The Family Man

A cute holiday-ish movie. I like these kind of "how would my life have been different" movies. It's a sort of updated "It's A Wonderful Life," but from a different take. The kind of relationship that Jack and Kate have in this movie, after 13 years of marriage, is the kind I want to have after 30 years of marriage.

Today's quote:
"Louisa can do it with a whole jar of spiders in her hand!"

Friday's movie:

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure

My husband and I were talking about this movie yesterday and how Keanu Reeves has gone on to seemingly bigger and better things while we couldn't even remember the name of "Bill." All my husband could describe him as was the one with the bogely eyes. San Dimas sure got put on the map because of this movie; that and Socrates Johnson.

Today's quote:
"Because you thought I was *cocky*, I'm not on a permanent *acid* trip?!?"

Yesterday's movie:

Roxanne

Gotta love this one. Probably my favorite line from this movie is, "I thought you said, 'Earn more sessions by sleaving.'"

Today's quote:
"Dust....... wind....... dude."

Yesterday's movie:

Mulan

After serving a mission for my church in Taiwan, I gained so much more cultural insight into this movie. The fact that she calls her dog "Little brother" was enough to make me laugh. I listen to the Disney station on Pandora radio a lot and they play a lot of songs from Mulan. There have been nights where, after having been woken up, I can't go back to sleep because the songs from this movie are playing through my head. Grrrr....

Today's quote:
"Aromatic: it must be wonderful to wake up and smell the coffee..... in Brazil."

Yesterday's movie:

Groundhog Day

And I just realized that the picture I posted is in Spanish. Oh well. So, I hear that ol' Mr. Punxatawny Phil did indeed see his shadow yesterday which means 6 more weeks of winter. If it's a California winter, I have no problem with that. Now whenever I hear Sonny & Cher's "I Got You Babe" I can't help but think of this movie. Your favorites?

Today's quote:
"Ooh, I think my bunny slippers just ran for cover."

Yesterday's movie:

Clue

Watching this movie growing up, we had a version that was recorded off of TV so there were certain parts that were cut off due to our "editing" out the commercials. Therefore, we memorized it in such a manner that we took into account the crappy editing, we basically memorized crappy editing. And who doesn't love the different endings? This is definitely a classic, yet it's one I don't own yet. Do you have any other favorite lines from this movie?

Today's quote:
"Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties 'cause it's cooooold out there today."

Friday's movie:

It's A Wonderful Life

That probably wasn't the kind of quote you'd expect from a Jimmy Stewart warm and fuzzy movie. Not a bad line though, eh? This is one of my favorite movies and it makes me cry every time. Do you ever watch Christmas movies in the middle of the year and wish Christmas (or your December holiday of choice) would be there already? I don't know if I've ever seen another Jimmy Stewart movie besides this one. Any other favorite lines from this movie?

Today's quote:

"Men should be like Kleenex: soft, strong and disposable."
